The trend of increase of pedagogical interest to the new type of professional activity, tutor accompaniment in education, is currently progressing. This is confirmed by the 2-d inter-regional scientific-practical conference (with the foreign participation) ‘Tutorial practices: from philosophy to technology’ that was held in Volgograd on October 16–18, 2012. The conference was arranged by the Ministry of education and science of Volgograd region, Volgograd state academy of qualification increase and re-training of the workers of education, and the Inter-regional tutor association. The main goal of the conference was to discuss the urgent issues of tutorial activity in the contemporary pedagogical theory and practice in the context of the National educational initiative «Our new school»; generalization and translation of the unique experience accumulated by the educational institutions of several regions of the country to the domestic and foreign pedagogical community.
