The article examines the most recognized theoretical approaches to the justification of the reasons of the origin of the social state in Western Europe (namely, «industrial» approach; functionalist theory; theory of demands of developed capitalism; Marxist understanding of the nature of social state; class mobilization theory; state-centric approach; modernization theory). The author’s position is that the social state emerged for the entire complex of reasons. |
