Modern industrial structure of small and medium-size cities of Volgograd region

The article has studied the industrial structure of small and middle-size cities of Volgograd region on the basis of statistical data regarding the volume of products and the number of employees in terms of the economic branches in 2010. The research has resulted in the conclusion that Volgograd region is characterized by the significant territorial concentration of population, labor resources, and industrial productions in the regional center, Volgograd, which considerably reduces the importance of small and middle-size cities in the region economic development. At the same time, small and middle-size cities of the region maintain their industrial functions, and still play the role of important components in the regional economic system together with the large cities of the region.
