ENSURING FOOD SECURITY OF RUSSIA: OPPORTUNITIES AND CHALLENGES OF THE AGRICULTURAL SECTOR

The work elaborated the concept and the role of food security in the public security of the country; carried out systematic assessment of the status and trends of development of agricultural industry in Russia in the context of its components: human resources, socio-economic, material-technical, and innovative. The article analyzed dynamics of export and import of food products, the share of food expenditures in the family budget, consumer price indices for agricultural products. The study of agricultural sector in the static and dynamic aspects allowed identifying its opportunities and «problem areas» in the food security of the state in the period of economic sanctions imposed on Russia and retaliatory food embargo of Russia.
