The article analyzes the current development of small business in the Russian northern region (on the example of the Komi Republic) using official statistics. The research object is small business in the Komi Republic. The research subject is employment in the field of small business. The theoretical and methodological basis of the study is the fundamental works of Russian and foreign scientists on entrepreneurship and its impact on the labor market. The information base of the study is the data of Rosstat, Komistat, information from periodicals, Internet publications, as well as the data from a sociological survey of the Komi population on employment conducted in 2018. The article reveals the objective reasons for functioning and development of small business in the market economic system. The specific characteristics of small business that provide employment of population in the northern region are reviewed in detail. Particular attention is paid to the analysis of the economically active population in the Komi Republic. The paper assesses the impact of various factors that influence the economic activity of the population. The entrepreneurial activity of the urban population has been studied in the Komi Republic. The article reveals the level of entrepreneurial activity of the urban population, its features, the reasons of reluctance to organize their business in the territory of residence. The author attempts to determine the factors influencing the entrepreneurial activity of the population. According to the sociological survey, the article assessed the level of public awareness about state support programs for entrepreneurship at the federal and regional levels. |
