The article is devoted to the study of the possible economic consequences for Spain in the event of the intensification of the separatist movements in Catalonia. In the course of the research, the place and importance of the autonomous region of Catalonia in the economic plan for the economy of the Kingdom of Spain is indicated Highlighted the reasons why obtaining independence of Catalonia would entail significant economic losses for Spain, in particular the reduction of jobs, falling incomes in the field of trade and tourism, increasing the burden on the budget, moving business and reducing investment. Based on the analysis of the opinions of various scholars, experts and politicians, possible scenarios for the development of the Spanish economy in the event of the development of separatist movements in Catalonia are formalized. Special attention is paid to key economic indicators and development indicators, in particular, the prospects for GDP growth, budget deficit, the country’s external debt, tourist flows and the development of the tourism industry, investment attractiveness and investment, the development of key industrial sectors that are the basis of the economy as an autonomous region, so and the whole country. The results of the study allowed to formulate promising areas for resolving tensions between Catalonia and Madrid, as well as to identify ways to prevent the negative consequences of the intensification of separatist movements. In particular, special emphasis was placed on the negotiations, the subject of which should be the expansion of the autonomy of Catalonia, the increase in the share of taxes that remains in the region, additional political preferences. It was also proposed to consider the possibility of changing the constitutional laws, allowing to strengthen self-government in Catalonia, which will be able to meet the needs of the citizens of the region in a timely and effective manner, contribute to the realization of their rights. |
