Annotation:

The article presents the results of a study of the process of integration of freshmen into the sociocultural and educational environment of the university. Based on empirical data, the students’ requests and expectations and the University’s vision are formulated on improving approaches to successful socio-psychological and educational adaptation and the integration of freshmen into the educational space of the University. Important trends in discussing approaches to solving the problems of adaptation and socio-psychological integration of freshmen, which are described in publications of the world scientific community, are considered. The authors based on the survey provided a detailed description of the socio-demographic portrait of first-year students (family composition, residence, financial status, health status, etc.), the analysis of the specifics of their socio-cultural integration into the educational space of the University with the allocation of problem areas and growth points. Much attention is paid to the integration of first-year students in the educational process of the University, the ranking of the importance of factors that have had a significant impact on the choice of University first-year students, assessment of their awareness of the future specialty, analysis of the level of adaptation to the educational process in the University, the needs for additional professional education.The article is particularly valuable for highlighting the conditions that helped first-year students to adapt to the learning process and the factors that caused learning difficulties on the basis of empirical research. The key approaches for the successful integration of freshmen into the sociocultural and educational environment of the university can be: a positive emotional background of educational and extracurricular activities, orientation on the student’s personality and high-quality psychological interaction with participants in the educational process; creating a success situation for everyone a variety of proposals for finding areas of personal growth; early immersion in social and professional networks; offers relevant educational and extracurricular digital content.
