RAISING POSITIVE MOTIVATION OF STUDENTS TOWARDS ADVANCING THEIR PEDAGOGICAL TRAINING

Annotation:

The article analyzes the problems referring to students’ motivation to continue their educational trek in pedagogy with master’s and postgraduate programs. The author begins with a brief overview of the scholarly domains related to the problem under study and brings forward a historical aspect of the build-up of continuous teacher education as a system. The author underpins the relevance of raising positive motivation in the students at a pedagogical university to continue their education and professional development. The article presents the results of research into the motives underlying the students’ choosing master’s programs in the field of pedagogical training. The main part of the article discloses the analysis of quantitative indicators of students’ranking their motives for enrolling for a master’s program and presents the rating of motives by the number of choices. The research shows that the main motives for taking master’s programs by would-be teachers are the prospects for career growth, the opportunity for self-accomplishment and advancement. The author studies the dynamics in the breeding of students’ positive motivation to pursue their teacher education during their terms at the university. The research highlights an increase in the number of students with high and medium levels of positive motivation to continue their education from their first to the fifth year at university, i. e. the drift in motivation has a positive trend. The article describes the pedagogical conditions for the raising students’positive motivation to further their pedagogical training, reveals the ways of their implementation in educational practice, and substantiates the role of an educational institution as a factor in raising students’ positive motivation for their continuous pedagogical training. The results of the research can be instrumental in promoting the quality of educational programs for bachelors, specialists, and masters and, as a result, the employability of university graduates in the modern labor market.
