MASTER’S DEGREE PROGRAM IN THE DIRECTION 49.04.03 “SPORTS”, PROFILE “SCIENTIFIC AND METHODOLOGICAL SUPPORT OF COMPETITIVE ACTIVITIES”

The state professional standard “Coach” determines the compliance of the level of athletes’ sports qualification with the level of coaches’ qualification in sports. The work of a coach with highly qualified athletes can be done by a specialist with a master’s degree and a teacher-researcher trained in master’s and postgraduate programs. This has led to the development of master’s programs in physical education institutions. The preparation of masters in sports in Russia has started relatively recently. At the Siberian State University of Physical Culture, the training of masters has been underway since 1998 to the present. Many students who have been trained in the magistracy work successfully with athletes of high qualifications and with sports teams of various sports. The article presents the profile part of the master’s program in the direction 49.04.03 “Sports and theoretical and methodological support of the training of masters”, the profile “Scientific and methodological support of competitive activity”. The results of the analysis of specialized literature on the problem of competitive activity, regulatory documents “Professional standard “Coach”, “The approximate basic educational program of the magistracy” made it possible to determine the necessary professional competences, academic disciplines for the formation of professional competences. The composition of professional competences includes the following: PC-1: “Is able to analyze the process of training and competitive activity and develop recommendations for building a training process; PC-2: “Is able to analyze the athletes’ preparedness with regard to the stages of multi-year training and develop recommendations for building the training process”; PC-3: “Is able to carry out planning and performing applied works of theoretical and experimental nature to determine the methods of increasing the efficiency of the training process”. The following academic disciplines are recommended for the formation of professional competences: scientific and methodological support for the integral training of athletes, control of the pre-secondary training of athletes, modern technologies for the training of athletes, competitive activity in the sports of the highest achievements, compatibility in sports activities, problems of sports training. For each discipline, lecture courses presented at the university educational portal have been developed; textbooks (electronic version) have been published. The textbook “Psychodiagnostics in the training system of athletes” includes a set of methods for conducting a research.
