The development of the digital economy in Russia is a necessary condition for improving the standard of living of citizens and preserving national sovereignty. This is reflected in the Program “Digital Economy of the Russian Federation”, the Strategy for the Development of the Information Society in the Russian Federation for 2017—2030 and other policy documents. The implementation of these initiatives should be based on appropriate staffing, which in its turn is based, among other things, on the proper level of quality of domestic higher education. Article examines the current aspects of the response of Russian higher education to the new needs of the labor market, the use of information technology in the educational environment. The realities of the COVID-19 pandemic have shown that digitalization of education can not only improve the efficiency of the educational process, but is also the only possible way to maintain the quality of education at an acceptable level in crisis conditions. The judgments expressed by various authors about the positive and negative consequences of digitalization of education require a balanced and reasoned understanding in order to find the optimal balance between distance learning, on the one hand, and the traditional values of domestic education, on the other hand. The author’s recommendations are aimed at a thoughtful response of higher education to the developing digital transformation. Firstly, the author considers it necessary for universities to respond more sensitively to changes in the labor market, in particular the emergence of idea of multiprofessionalism. Secondly, the author substantiates the need for the harmonious inclusion of the distance format in the educational process. Thirdly, the author suggests using the possibilities of digital transformation more widely in assessing the quality of higher education in order to avoid excessive emphasis on qualimetric performance indicators. |
