In the context of globalization, information technologies provide great opportunities for teaching foreign languages. Along with this, the formation of students’ intercultural competence in the process of online learning is becoming an important problem in the field of language education. The relevance of this research lies in an attempt to combine information technology and intercultural teaching of foreign languages. A systematic review and analysis of the use of information technology in intercultural foreign language teaching has been conducted, with special attention paid to the application of the technologies under study in China. The objective of the research is to study information technologies in intercultural teaching of foreign languages and certain aspects of their use. The research method is the review of the literature, which examines the theoretical basis of the problem under study. The analysis of the state and problems of information technologies in intercultural teaching of foreign languages shows that they have a certain advantage in the formation of intercultural competence in the students, because they can significantly increase the students’ interest in learning a foreign language and culture of the countries the language is spoken in as an integral part of foreign language training. Information technologies promote educational interaction and cooperation between teachers and students. The article also examines the difficulties faced by teachers in the process of implementing information technology. The article’s innovation lies in the fact that a systematic analysis of information technologies (the use of digital educational resources, virtual reality and simulation technologies, social networks) is carried out from the point of view of the methodology of teaching foreign languages. As a result of the study, recommendations for teachers on the use of information technology in order to optimize intercultural learning are developed. |
