DESIGN OF AN ADDITIONAL PROGRAM OF PROFESSIONAL RETRAINING “CAR MECHANIC”

The relevance of the topic of the article is due to the fact that the growth of rolling stock and the increase in the volume of transportation has led to the involvement in repair and maintenance operations of workers who do not have education in specialties that belong to the enlarged group of specialties 23.00.00 “Equipment and technology of land transport”. The purpose of the article is to consider the features of designing an additional professional retraining program for car mechanics, on-the-job. The novelty of the article lies in the proposal of a methodology for designing professional retraining programs for the working profession of the car mechanic. The introduction of an additional professional retraining program will allow future car mechanics to develop the appropriate competences to improve the quality of diagnostics, maintenance and repair of cars. The practical significance of the article lies in the fact that as part of the study, through a survey of employers, the competences necessary for a car mechanic to perform diagnostics, maintenance and repair of rolling stock were identified. Representatives of both large and small motor transport enterprises took part in the survey. Data processing made it possible to unify the results of the survey and formulate five competences of a car mechanic necessary for him to perform labor functions at motor transport enterprises. The identified knowledge, skills, practical experience and personal qualities of a car mechanic, as structural components of professional competences, made it possible to formulate the structure and content of the additional professional retraining program “Car mechanic”. The methodology proposed in the article for designing an additional professional retraining program for future car mechanics will be useful for designing retraining and advanced training programs for blue-collar professions.
