The electric power industry is a critical infrastructure that has a direct impact on the socio-economic development of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation, the country’s ability to carry out industrial modernization and achieve technological sovereignty. One of the most important tasks in the development of the electric power industry at the present stage is its intellectualization, which involves changing production models and ways of interaction between energy companies and consumers based on advanced digital technologies. The implementation of digital solutions and process automation is evident at various levels of the energy system: from operation, maintenance, and repair of production assets to strategic planning. The purpose of the study is to study the impact of digitalization and intellectualization processes on the regional power industry from the perspective of analyzing the resulting systemic economic effects. The article systematizes the main trends in the digital transformation of the industry and promising technologies that largely determine the possibilities for intellectualizing regional energy systems and power supply systems. Cases of creating digital districts of electrical networks and introducing the concept of demand management using aggregators for managing the demand for electrical energy are analyzed. It is shown that the main economic effects of intellectualization of the electric power industry are expressed in the reduction of the cost of electric power in the day-ahead market, as well as in a reduction of capital and operating costs for maintenance, modernization, and repair of the regional power grid complex. The theoretical significance of the article is expressed in the identification of new characteristics of smart energy systems that set the vector for the digital transformation of the electric power industry. The practical significance is due to the development of directions for intellectualizing the region’s energy sector from the standpoint of achieving significant systemic effects. |
