Hippotherapy is the treatment of various diseases by riding and communicating with a horse, recommended in the treatment of diseases of musculoskeletal, nervous and psycho-emotional systems, pathologies of internal organs. Hippotherapy is used to treat a wide range of diseases, including cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, muscular dystrophy, cerebrovascular diseases, multiple sclerosis, diseases of the brain and spinal cord, autistic behavior disorders, and other psychosomatic, psychological, psychiatric, and rheumatic diseases. For children participating in rehabilitation, hippotherapy helps maintain muscle tone, improves coordination of movements and a sense of balance, trains the cardio-respiratory system, and improves overall health. In the course of scientific work, the principles, means and methods of physical rehabilitation of children diagnosed with cerebral palsy, aimed at normalizing the pathology of muscle tone, the formation of the correct motor stereotype, were investigated. Using the author’s methodology, which contains a hippotherapeutic complex of rehabilitation exercises for children of primary and secondary school age, the features of their effect on the posture of a child with cerebral palsy and the activity of the body’s functional systems were identified. The study of the dynamics of these indicators based on the results of the pedagogical experiment was carried out on the basis of a “battery of tests” that made it possible to identify, evaluate and document positive changes in the body functioning of the children who studied according to the developed methodology. Experimental and control groups were selected to participate in the experiment. The experimental group was engaged in a combined author’s program, while the control group used a traditional approach to classes. Mathematical methods were used to determine the arithmetic mean in all tests. The reliability of the obtained results was verified using Student’s T-test. The results demonstrated significant positive changes of the considered indicators in the experimental group compared with children from the control group. Based on the results of the study, conclusions and practical recommendations are formulated. |
