The research topic of this article is the development of a theoretical model for the formation of civic regional identity among the youth of the Russian Far East. As a result, the key direction becomes the strengthening and promotion of patterns of regional identity among student youth, “filling” the structure of values and meanings inscribed in regional symbolic “pictures of the world”, taking into account socio-cultural stereotypes. Regional identity is interpreted as a specific feeling by the subjects inhabiting the territory of their place of residence, which needs their active participation and support. Objectively, regional identity is considered as a process of interpreting regional uniqueness when a given region becomes institutionalized in a certain kind of community. For the concept of regional identity in a subjective sense, the term “regional self-awareness” is used, the strength of which is directly related to the identity of the region. The article examines the existing models of civic identity formation, the main prerequisites for the formation of regional identity, and defines the basic characteristics of regional identity. Understanding the essence of civic regional identity will make it possible to overcome identification “gaps”, which is possible through strengthening the translation of the cognitive component by an external actor — education. As a result of training, upbringing and development, a person is able to develop that value, which will be a system-forming, significant “axis of consciousness”, which is reflected in the form of social value orientations in his consciousness. The quality of the content of the subject’s “values” is the most powerful factor influencing the formation of civic and regional identities. Regional identity is a component of civic identity, and the authors believe that educational institutions can act as an effective social agent of personal appropriation/consolidation of the identity pattern in the model of regional perception of the territory. |
