This article explores the development of creative abilities in younger schoolchildren within the context of modern Russia, through the lens of humanistic psychology. It highlights the critical role of primary school age in fostering creativity and underscores the importance of developing personal qualities such as independence, decision-making skills, and initiative. The article points out that the traditional educational model, which focuses primarily on knowledge transmission and exam preparation, often overlooks the individual traits of students and hinders the cultivation of their creative potential. In contrast, humanistic psychology, as a significant branch of psychology, emphasizes the principles of humanity, which involve the development of an individual’s internal potential, as well as their physical, psycho-emotional, and creative growth, alongside issues of self-realization and happiness. The theoretical concepts of humanistic psychology have been adapted and expanded within pedagogical practice, leading to the formulation of a unique humanistic educational framework. According to this framework, the goal of education is to prepare individuals who can adapt to changes, possess skills for independent learning, and have a well-rounded personality. This approach not only encompasses the development of cognitive abilities and knowledge but also the nurturing of emotional maturity in students. Building on humanistic educational principles, the study proposes specific pedagogical strategies and methods, including a focus on student agency, the integration of cognitive and emotional aspects in the learning process, the promotion of self-directed learning, and the cultivation of self-assessment skills. These approaches are designed to foster the development of creativity in younger schoolchildren and enhance their social adaptability.
