The purpose of the scientific article is to present a generalization of the potential of modern approaches to effective psychological and pedagogical support for children and young people with disabilities. The factors of relevance of this problem are determined by the following: (a) systemic changes in the state social policy direct the scientific and pedagogical community to carry out systemic high-quality reforms in creating an inclusive environment in education; (b) currently there is a significant increase in the number of children and young adults with intellectual disabilities; (c) intellectual disabilities in children and young adults negatively affect the state of the family. Systemic, well-thought-out psychological and pedagogical support for people with intellectual disabilities and support for their families have a significant positive effect in solving the stated problems. The authors rely on the study of the experience of the daytime care center for children and young people with disabilities “House under the Sun”, created by the Moscow Charitable Foundation “Way of Life” in 2021 with the support of the Moscow Department of Social Protection. The article shows that the developed system of psychological and pedagogical support is based on individually oriented work with children and young people with various intellectual disabilities, aimed at their socialization and socio-cultural adaptation. The article analyzes the potential for using a set of additional education programs, the variability of training modules that provide conditions not only for leisure activities, but also for meaningful communication, the formation of self-service skills, etc. All this allows concentrating the resources of social partnership of non-profit and government organizations, families where such children and young people live, as well as of educational organizations and cultural institutions. The fundamental criterion for assessing the effectiveness of the approaches used in the work of the center is “social well-being” a category reflecting changes in the quality of life. The article provides recommendations for the implementation of a system of comprehensive psychological and pedagogical support for children and young people with disabilities and their family members. |
