The main normative legal act with the highest legal force is the Constitution of the Russian Federation, adopted by popular vote on December 12, 1993. The Constitution of the Russian Federation enshrines principles on which the foundation of Russian statehood is built: democracy, the priority of human and civil rights and freedoms, the principle of separation of powers, federalism, political pluralism and transparency, free elections, the social and secular nature of the state. 27 years after the adoption of the Constitution, in 2020, amendments were made to it that concern the succession of the Russian Federation from the USSR, the transfer of spiritual and moral values from ancestors, the consolidation of the status of the Russian people and the Russian language, and the implementation of state policy in the field of preserving traditional family values. The amendments have clearly expressed features of building a national state in Russia, enshrine the principles on which Russian statehood is based. The author examines in detail the adopted amendments, notes their pros and cons, and makes proposals to supplement these amendments. The article analyzes the provisions of the Constitution of the Russian Federation, introduced into it by adopting amendments on July 4, 2020, from the point of view of their compliance with modern realities and sentiments of Russian society, and also taking into account the analysis of the historical path traveled by Russia over the centuries, proposals are put forward to supplement these constitutional norms. The article also presents the positions of scientists who conducted research on the content of the Constitution of the Russian Federation and the amendments adopted to it. The result was the established author’s position on the issue of the appropriateness of the adopted amendments to the Constitution of the Russian Federation from the point of view of the compliance of these norms with modern social realities, legality, the historical path traveled and the points of view of scientists on this issue. |
