The theoretical review of modern approaches to investigation of a leadership phenomenon has been performed in the article. Two methodological problems are discussed in the leadership scientific investigation. The first problem refers to using of qualitative research methods, and the second problem refers to the levels of analysis. The basic attention is given to successful performance by the leader of his functions. In this case the characteristics of a leader (or a group) connected with evaluation of his features, as well as criteria of effective leaders are interesting. The characterological approach focuses on personal attributes of the leader. Thus it is considered, that the skills are required for implementation of corresponding personal qualities in leader’s roles. Three basic categories of skills are distinguished: special, conceptual, interpersonal. The behavioral approach focuses mostly on direct actions of the leader at work, as well as connection of such actions with the leadership efficiency. The basic issue in behavioral researches refers to classification of styles leader’s behavior, allowing carrying out research and developing theories leader’s efficiency. The conclusion regarding necessity of development of methodical basis of research of the leader at the organization for optimization of personnel policy as a whole and modernization of social-psychological elements of the audit at the level of separate organizations has been made. |
