DEVELOPMENT OF REGIONAL PLANNING AND ECONOMIC ZONING IN RUSSIA: Comparative analysis

Enormous experience obtained in the years of socialist management of national economy in the area of rational distribution of productions and territorial structure of management is currently significant for development of territorial plans. The issues of rational distribution of productive forces, integrated use of natural resources of the country regions have tremendous impact on the socialeconomic development of the country, predetermined not only territorial proportions, but also inter-industry connections of the national economy, improvement of the efficiency of social production and enhancement of the population welfare. The basis of territorial administration is economic zoning, which allows allocating sufficiently sustainable social-economic territorial entities where the regional policy of the state will be implemented.
