Annotation:

The article shows main psycholinguistic mechanisms of development of the listening competence of students of technical colleges and universities based on profession-oriented audio texts performing the problem-oriented tasks, which should make for development of creative thinking of students and raise motivation for listening. The acquired skills of working with the profession-oriented vocabulary make the comprehension of oral speech more intensive and contribute to comprehension of professionoriented audio texts and assist by complete formation of communicative competence. The article examines scientifi cally grounded methods of listening comprehension of professional texts on the basis of improving the mechanisms for listening in the conditions of non-linguistic departments.
