The article presents the results of the author’s research, which is concerned on the characteristics of savings behavior of households in Russia, China and Kazakhstan. The specifics of the behavior can be seen in the comparison of three generations of households: adult children, their parents and their grandparents. Results show both similar and different trends in the propensity to certain types of savings behavior of households in different countries. Thus, in China more households than in Russia and Kazakhstan have savings. There are similar trends when comparing the generations. The generation of parents in different countries is inclined to save more than the generation of adult children; the generation of grandparents is saving more and for longer period than the generation of parents and adult children; and adult children buy more and save less than older generations. |
