This article shows the problem of ensuring privacy when using any translation services, whether when applying for an assistance of representatives of different professions or a participation in a trial. The author explains the need for legal recognition of translator’s secrecy obligation as a type of professional secrecy and giving «witness immunity» to the translators involved in different kinds of legal proceedings. The author suggests ways to improve legislative regulation by amending the regulatory acts for providing «witness immunity» to translators and establishing translators’ obligation to maintain confidentiality of the professional secrecy at the federal level.
