The article reveals the issues of modeling the process of strengthening the physical and mental health of preschool children by means of tourism. The expediency of using elements of tourism in the process of physical education in a preschool educational institution with children of a given age, according to the expression of domestic teachers, is that various types of walking and running are the main means of movement along the developed route and therefore are not perceived by children as special exercises, performed for any purpose. At the same time, motor activity occurs in the conditions of the game and in the presence of various distractions, which does not allow children to focus on their physical efforts. All this contributes to the maintenance of physical performance throughout the entire class, which is important for improving the functional status of children. The authors presented psychological and pedagogical conditions for the application of tourism elements in the process of physical education of children in a preschool educational institution and identified the main components of the model of rehabilitation for children of older preschool age by means of tourism, which include: purpose, basic guidelines, principles, conditions, stages of pedagogical activity, functions, forms, methods, psychological and pedagogical conditions, evaluation criteria, the expected result of activity. The basic guidelines of pedagogical activity in working with children 6‑7 years of age with tourism means are discussed in detail, such as: developing play and motor experience, developing the child’s physical qualities in learning various ways to move and overcome obstacles, simple knitting of tourist hubs and performing exercises with objects; skills to perform special motor tasks and adapted exercises of tourist all‑round; strengthening the cardiovascular and respiratory systems of the body when conducting classes, in the open in the autumn, winter and spring periods. As the basis for the study of childrenʼs physical fitness, the authors used standardized diagnostic techniques, for example: running 30 meters, long jump from a spot, running 300 meters, shuttle running 3×5 meters, a test for orientation in space. In the course of the implementation of the experimental model, a positive effect on the strengthening of the physical and mental health of preschool children was established.
