The article proposes a systematic approach to the database creation and socio‑economic analysis of households in a particular region of the Russian Federation based on statistical methods. It points out that although there are different approaches to regional development assessment employed to effectively address the challenges of economic regulation, as well as the development of the business environment and markets, all of them take into account the living standards to varying degrees. It states that the results of the assessment of the volume, structure and dynamics of income, expenditure and consumption of households in the Kaliningrad region and other regions of the Russian Federation serve as an important analytical component of the regional socio‑economic programs development. The article presents the results of using the proposed methodology for a comparative analysis of the living standard indicators and the situation of households in the Kaliningrad region and other regions of the Russian Federation over the period 2010–2017. Such a long‑term analysis allows obtaining an upto‑date comparative description of the regional trends in household situation. A comparative analysis of household indicators from the standpoint of assessing their financial situation demonstrates a general trend — a gradual reduction in the poverty level of the Russian population over the period 2010–2017. However, an analysis of the dynamics of nominal and real disposable resources per household member shows that with an increase in the level of nominal income at about the same rate, the size of the disposable resources per household member has significant regional differences. In the Kaliningrad region, this indicator is significantly lower not only the level of the average value in the North‑West Federal District, but also the level of the average value in the Russian Federation as a whole. The conclusions drawn on the analysis results are of practical importance since they can be used both by regional authorities for the development of socio‑economic programs and by commercial organizations for the development of their regional business‑strategies. |
