The modern world has become the world of permanent technological progress and knowledge economy. Technological changes in the first place led to changes in the structure of the economy and all production processes; they also push the need for changes in the approach to education. The classical system of Russian education meant obtaining a specialist diploma, which guaranteed the graduate the acquisition of the qualification level that would allow one to be a competitive specialist throughout his life. However, the situation in the modern world is different: some professions disappear completely, new professions constantly appear, knowledge becomes obsolete, the demand for fundamentally new types of competencies and forms of training grows. The generation of specialists working in the labor market today is the first generation to face the fact that the life cycle of innovations implemented in technology is shorter than the period of a person’s working life. Modern specialist is forced to constantly improve one’s skills. As it is, a diploma of higher education, although necessary, is not a guarantee of success and demand in the labor market: a person must take responsibility for own education and learn throughout life. Modern education is a system of life-long learning, this term has no exact translation into Russian, but is most often interpreted as “continuous education” or “lifelong learning”. Corporate universities are one of the most effective tools for providing continuing education.
