The article examines the issue of production standardization and its role in enhancing the integration of national production in international economic relations. The relevance of the study is due to the needs of the Russian economy in high-tech exports increasing and transition to cooperative export model, based on global value chains. The developing economies of Asia (primarily China) are in the focus as shifting in global chains from outside to leading positions. The paper aims on studying the production processes standardization as a global value chains driver; the nature of standardization and quality control measures is determined with regard to the Asian-driven global value chains. An econometric model of relationship between key measures for product standardizing and the global value chains integration is presented. The hypothesis of a significant statistical link between the number of technical barriers to trade and the share of foreign value added in the country’s gross export has been confirmed. The results of the study are of practical importance for Russian companies that are exporters or planning to enter foreign markets with non-primary non-energy products. At the same time, it was shown that significant efforts will be required in the direction of developing statistical databases on technical measures in trade and their effectiveness, as well as in the formation of relevant knowledge among Russian participants in foreign economic activity.
