FEATURES OF THE MANIFESTATION OF TOLERANCE AT YOUNG AGE

The article presents an analysis of a study conducted in 2020 on the relationship between age and individual characteristics and behavioral manifestations of tolerance in adolescence. The aim of the study was to examine the phenomenon of tolerance and identify the features of its manifestation in adolescence on the basis of the student contingent of the college of the Siberian University of Consumer Cooperation. Tolerance was considered as an object of research as a philosophicalsocial and psychological-pedagogical phenomenon. The subject of the research was the manifestation of tolerance in adolescence. In the study, we proceeded from the hypothesis that the same young people in the structure of the level of their general tolerance will have both low and high indicators of the development of tolerance depending on the sphere of its manifestation (social tolerance, ethnic tolerance, tolerance as a personality trait, tolerance for uncertainty). To study the features of manifestation of both tolerant and intolerant behavior among students, the following methods were used: express questionnaire “Tolerance index,” methodology for measuring the level of tolerance in adolescents and young people and the scale of general tolerance for uncertainty. The study involved 48 1—4-year students, aged 15 to 21,in various areas of professional training. As a result of our research, we came to the following conclusions: the majority of adolescents have an average level of general tolerance, while the manifestation of both tolerant and intolerant personality traits is typical of them. Girls show higher indicators of all types of tolerance than boys. Students are friendlier towards representatives of another social group than towards representatives of another ethnic group. A third of boys and girls have a low level of tolerance for uncertainty, which indicates that they do not accept the novelty of situations and the diversity of the world. On the basis of the diagnostic data obtained, recommendations were developed for carrying out educational work on the prevention of intolerant behavior among students in educational institutions.
