This article reveals the role of visual activity in the aesthetic education of preschoolers, and also describes the psychological and pedagogical means of forming the aesthetic taste of a child of this age. It is well known that in order to understand the beautiful, it is necessary to walk the difficult path of accumulating elementary visual impressions and to have a sufficient level of development of emotional and cognitive processes. There is no doubt that each age group has its own characteristics of the development of the preschooler and the perception of the world around. Therefore, the artistic and aesthetic formation of the personality should be carried out taking into account the age characteristics of the child. All this leads to the need to formulate special tasks at each stage of the child’s aesthetic education, with consideration of the age characteristics of their psyche. Understanding the beautiful, enjoying art and the creative process directly contribute to the education of a comprehensively developed personality. Acquaintance of the preschooler with the beauty of the world around them not only develops their mind and feelings, but also contributes to the development of fantasy and imagination. At the same time, an important task of aesthetic education is to form in children not only cultural needs, but also aesthetic taste and abilities. It is aesthetic education that promotes the development of creative thinking, broadens one’s horizons, and makes one think outside the box. All this ultimately leads to the search for not only new ways, but also new solutions to the assigned tasks and, in turn, expands human capabilities. The author considers the aesthetic education of a child as one of the most important tasks for the formation of a harmonious personality.
