This article examines the phenomenological signs of the process of fostering students’ economic patriotism in pedagogical theory and practice in the modern educational space of the university. The article also reveals the definitions of such key concepts as patriotism, economic patriotism, fostering of economic patriotism, labor market, professional qualifications, student youth, and advanced production technologies. A special attention is paid to the interdisciplinary nature of the analysis of the key concept — “fostering of students’ economic patriotism”, which is understood as the process of consistent qualitative changes in the attitudes and behavior of representatives of modern youth, which determines their motivation to work for the good of their homeland. The transition of society to the digital economy dictates new requirements and standards for education in general and the competencies of students, in particular, which requires increased attention to the study of economic patriotism in student youth in modern Russia. The article also highlights issues related to the formation of the “third mission” of universities — the development of entrepreneurial activity of modern youth, which can become the key to the effective development of reputable universities in Russia. The aggravation of the international situation complicated by the spread of the pandemic virus, also leads to the stagnation of all economic processes, the stagnation of the international and domestic financial markets, a sharp rise in prices, an increase in the unemployment rate and a decrease in the level of wages. In this sense, it is necessary to change the worldview of people in general and of young people in particular towards the formation of position of an active consumer who, while producing for themself and their country, can also use the products of their own production, not only in order to achieve their own material prosperity and well-being, but also for the financial advancement and economic development of their homeland.
