PECULIARITIES OF LEARNING MOTIVATION IN SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS

Annotation:

The article actualizes the formation of motivation in secondary school students (among students in grades 7—9). A review of existing studies of domestic and foreign scientists in this field is carried out. The existing theoretical framework, as well as methods for studying the motives for educational activity and attitudes towards academic subjects is determined. The changes in the attitude of modern schoolchildren to the present, the motives of their activities, the features of personality formation are identified. The questionnaire methods of G. N. Kazantseva and T. I. Ilyina are used for the experiment. The main motives for choosing the most attractive and disliked school subjects for students based on the classification of motives by L. I. Bozhovich, A. K. Markova, P. M. Yakobson, M. V. Matyukhina are identified and characterized. The dynamics of the choice of individual motives is shown as the student grows up and the time of professional self-determination approaches and the construction of a further educational route is considered. The discrepancies between the views existing among teachers of the main school regarding the motives of students when choosing favorite and least favorite subjects with the results of a survey of 257 adolescents are indicated and analyzed. The presented results of the study allow us to conclude about the peculiarities of the motives of schoolchildren in grades 7—9 in the learning process: expressed interest if the subject is entertaining and the student likes how the teacher explains the subject; lack of interest in or rejection of the subject if the student experiences learning difficulties and dissatisfaction with the teaching of the subject. The data obtained can be used in the work of secondary and high school teachers, as well as for further research on the motives of students.
