REASONS FOR INTRODUCING A NATIONAL DIGITAL CURRENCY IN RUSSIA

Payment-related innovation has always been an integral part of a central bank. The study of currently existing forms of digital currencies and their role in the development of competition in the global economy allows us to understand why central banks are striving to develop and implement national digital currencies. This article reviews the reasons for the introduction of national digital currencies, and analyzes the approach of foreign researchers. Particular attention in the article is paid to revealing the reasons for the introduction of the national digital currency in Russia. The internal and external reasons for its implementation are identified and considered. A classification of ecosystems is given that allows understanding their interaction with counterparties and understanding the main problems in the direction of their functioning. It is shown that the introduction of a national digital currency in Russia will allow maintaining control over the conduct of monetary policy, gaining control over cash flows within ecosystems and minimizing dependence on the currencies of unfriendly countries. The purpose of the scientific article is to systematize scientific knowledge and approaches to understanding the need to introduce a national digital currency in Russia. To achieve it, such tasks were set as: the analysis of scientific literature on the topic of the study, the study of practical experience in the use of cryptocurrencies and their impact on the conduct of the monetary policy of the central bank. The significance of the study is seen in an attempt to reveal in detail the internal and external reasons for the need to introduce a national digital currency, which can be used in further research work.
