The article is devoted to the problem of the influence of the community and diversity of the peoples of the Arctic region on the study of foreign languages in vocational education. The material of the article shows the development of the Arctic in the logic of global trends in the world`s economy, which explains the expansion of international and intercultural cooperation in the development of the Arctic territories. The authors point out the importance of mastering the skills and abilities of international communication, foreign language communication, paying attention to the requests of employers for strategic infrastructure projects. The reasoning of the article proceeds from the documentary basis of international Arctic organizations (Forum of the Northern Territories, Forum of Northern Studies), as well as on the publications of researchers on the issues of education in the Arctic region, which represent the pedagogical experience of neighboring Arctic countries (Finland, Sweden, Norway and others). The authors prove the cross-cultural specificity of the Arctic region and explain the prospects for active intercultural interaction with colleagues in this country and abroad, the inclusion of teachers in the area of multicultural communication, and the exchange of pedagogical experience. The article presents different ways of using the potential of the cross-cultural environment in the educational process. The authors propose to integrate into the basic course of a foreign language and a professional foreign language some speech didactic units aimed at overcoming the problem of the language barrier, understanding the distance of communication, physical contact, and emotional attunement of personal and business communication, non-verbal information, which characterizes the needs of business both in Russia and abroad. The authors emphasize the importance of information and communication technologies in providing access to the resources of the Arctic educational organizations and open education, which allow activating the foreign language teaching by means of linguistic and extra-linguistic content. |
