The article discusses the peculiarities of professional training of students — future environmental designers. The structure of design and artistic activities aimed at the complex design of the surrounding space, taking into account the modern requirements for durability, environmental friendliness, functionality, economy and aesthetics, is revealed. In the context of teaching environmental design, the specifics of design and creative thinking are defined as the ability of a specialist to generate original ideas, associative search, speed of solutions, resourcefulness, concentration and willpower. It has been proven that the mechanism for creating figurative objects of environmental design is the synthesis of imagination and abstract thinking, imagination and reason. A description of the concept of “environmental imagination” is given, which determines the ability to think using images, diverse modifications and combinations of their spatial, scale and structural properties and characteristics in the process of designing environmental objects. The process of forming the environmental imagination is characterized, which includes searching for a compositional idea of an image of a spatial-object project by imagining a real object in a mental model and fixing it in claustural exercises. The most effective methods of the professional training of environmental designers are identified and substantiated, which consist in dividing the design stages into separate tasks, the aspects of which are comprehended gradually, and in applying heuristic methods for solving problems in the educational process. The research methodology is based on the fundamental psychological and pedagogical works of leading scientists who substantiated the role of imagination in modeling new reality as a departure from stereotypical thinking. Research methods were monitoring the design process and analyzing the design work of students. |
