The relevance of the topic is due to the increased flow of fake information aimed at discrediting the image of Russia. Young people are at particular risk of mind manipulation through negative messages. To avoid the destructive influence of negative information, it is necessary to study the nature, forms and ways of its influence. The purpose of the article is to consider the features of negative messages and the reasons for the success of their influence on the consciousness of the younger generation in today’s information warfare. As a working concept, the definition of negative information is used in a broad sense: as a text dangerous to a person, inciting hatred or violence. Methods of analysis and synthesis, systematization, review of scientific literature, hermeneutic analysis of the text of information messages allow solving the tasks. The novelty of the article consists in considering the peculiarities of the influence of negative information on young people. There are not enough works in the scientific literature that highlight this urgent and multidimensional problem. It is also important to understand the psychological factors of the attractiveness of fakes among young people. Due to these reasons, the topic is quite heuristic. The practical significance of the work lies in the fact that with knowledge of the essence and features of negative information, it is possible to correctly determine the methods of countering it. The article defines the characteristic features of negative information. The features of modern information impact are highlighted. The reasons for the focus of fake sabotage on young people are revealed. First of all, it is an active and constant presence of a new generation of young people in the information flow of social networks and the Internet. The Net youth generation, the “digital generation”, is experiencing reality in the information space. Young people are more likely to open sites with negative information. The increased human interest in information with a negative bias is due to the biological and psychological foundations of human nature.
