DEVELOPMENT TRENDS AND DIRECTIONS FOR INCREASING PERFORMANCE EFFICIENCY OF HOTEL SERVICE ENTERPRISES IN THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION AND THE SOUTHERN FEDERAL DISTRICT

The external economic and epidemiological factors have been negatively affecting the financial condition of the hotel sector in the Russian Federation for several years. The restrictions imposed by the world community and the legislative authorities of Russia in the field of ensuring the safety of the population regarding counteracting the spread of coronavirus infection (COVID-19) dealt a significant blow to all sectors of the economy. A significant deterioration in the dynamics of the financial condition of companies occurs in the tourism sector, since the profit of such organizations directly depends on the degree of population mobility. At the same time, in the context of sanctions pressure on the world stage from unfriendly states, there is a high growth rate of demand for the domestic hotel market among the Russian population due to the lack of a choice of foreign alternatives. The purpose of the study is to determine the current level of the financial condition of the industry in the state and separately in the Southern Federal District, which is considered a tourist region due to its natural and climatic conditions and developed infrastructure. The paper analyzes the main financial indicators of enterprises: capital structure, profitability of assets and sales, liquidity. The authors found that companies in the Southern Federal District are characterized by a more favorable dynamics of all coefficients. Despite this, it was revealed that the hotel industry is experiencing serious problems associated with an insufficient level of market stability, profitability and solvency of organizations. Measures are proposed to minimize the impact of these factors on the business environment and improve the financial condition of enterprises in the hotel industry in conditions of economic instability.
