The article presents an urgent problem of teaching the basics of higher mathematics and data analysis to students of humanities at an economic university while studying
the disciplines of Mathematics and Digital Mathematics. The
problem of teaching a school mathematics course is considered
using specific examples. The possibilities of using MS Excel computing tools and the R language to solve technically complex problems are analyzed. Examples of a successful combination of different methods in the study of mathematics by students
while mastering the basics of linear programming using the
Moodle computer learning system are given.
The structure of the textbook on mathematics for students
studying in the field of sociology is described, which is used by
the teacher for conducting seminars, and by students for doing
homework and independent work at seminars, including when
performing test tasks compiled in an electronic training course
developed using the Moodle system, which received the highest
score upon testing.
The use of tools such as Excel and R-Studio in teaching increases the ability to make mathematics relevant by linking it with computer technology that students use on a daily basis. In the teaching
methodology, a result-oriented approach is essential, in which the
main attention is paid to the development of students’ competences
and skills, as well as minimal theoretical content. Interdisciplinary
communication, problem solving and the application of knowledge
in many areas of professional activity have now increased. The
integral approach proposed in the methodology is to respond more
comprehensively and flexibly to the needs of a wide range of students, as well as to their ability to understand the goals of applying
mathematics in the real world. The use of the possibilities of an
electronic educational course in mathematics in the educational
process makes it possible to digitally modernize teaching methods
and improve the quality of students’ knowledge. Digital transformations in the methodology of teaching mathematics to students
studying in the humanities are necessary. |
