The article presents the experience of organizing practical training for students in profile classes with a psychological and pedagogical orientation based on the developed program for a course of extracurricular activities. The authors consider the concept of interest in the teaching profession, referring to research on this topic, and, relying on the works of G. I. Shchukina about the essence of cognitive interest, they distinguish the stages of formation of interest in the teaching profession: curiosity, inquisitiveness, inclination towards the teaching profession, interest in the profession. This scientific approach made it possible to design a program for the course of extracurricular activities “First steps in pedagogy”, the content of which is structured in accordance with the stages of interest formation, built in the following logic: stimulating a positive emotional response to the specifics of the teaching profession; a meaningful desire to gain knowledge in this area; positioning oneself in the role of an active subject; the desire to be involved in this activity through the development of initial professional experience. The inclusion of schoolchildren in an active environment of pre-professional development is ensured by the use of interactive educational technologies, which are presented in the article: information mirror technologies; show and case technologies, discussions, technologies for the development of critical thinking, trainings, modeling, project method, and professional tests. The diagnostics of the emotional, intellectual-cognitive, volitional components that determine the structure of the concept of interest in the teaching profession proved the success of organized work in the profile class of an educational organization of the city of Togliatti. In the process of implementing the program, schoolchildren began to show an emotionally positive attitude towards the learning process, demonstrated cognitive interest in studying the activities of outstanding figures in pedagogy, and showed strong-willed efforts to master the techniques of pedagogical work.
