This publication is devoted to the disclosure of the problem of psychological safety of teachers of higher educational institutions in the context of digital transformation of education from the point of view of establishing stress factors and identifying ways to overcome the main threats to the normal psychological background of higher school employees. Using a system-structural approach, classification, comparative analysis and generalization, the authors establish the content of the category “psychological safety”, reveal subjective threats to the psychological safety of a university teacher, identify objective threats to the psychological safety of a university teacher, suggest ways to overcome the identified threats to psychological safety of an objective and subjective plan. Such subjective threats to the psychological safety of a higher school teacher as the spread and progression of professional burnout, a tendency to conflict behavior and/or inability to resolve conflicts with students, colleagues, management, a low level of professional competences of the teacher, including lack of communication skills, are subjected to detailed consideration. The authors also state a number of objective threats to the psychological safety of a university teacher: the decline in the authority of a teacher as a carrier of unique knowledge and competences in the context of digital transformation, the lack of clear ideas in the Russian educational system about the differentiation of scientific and teaching activities, the low level of remuneration for higher school teachers, the delegation of mechanical and routine duties to teachers at the grassroots level, which clearly do not correspond to high qualifications of a higher school employee. In conclusion, measures are proposed to overcome and level out the identified threats: reducing the teaching load of teachers with a multiple increase in wage rates per unit of time, actively involving and developing a system of psychological counseling within higher educational institutions, tightening requirements for the quality of knowledge and skills of potential candidates for teaching positions, freeing teachers from performing a number of functions and tasks inherent in directly to researchers, exclusion from teaching duties of carrying out that work, which does not require special professional knowledge and can be assigned to employees of methodological departments.
