The article is dedicated to the study of patriotic education among students outside of school hours, using the example of Baikal College of Subsoil Use. In the context of modern challenges such as globalization, cultural diversity, and digitalization, patriotic education becomes an essential component in shaping civic responsibility, an active life position, and social engagement among youth. The authors thoroughly examine the theoretical foundations of patriotic education, including its historical, sociocultural, and pedagogical aspects, as well as contemporary approaches and methods applied in secondary vocational education institutions. Particular attention is given to practices implemented at the college, such as participation in the project “Conversations about Important Issues,” volunteer activities, excursions to historical sites, sports events, and creative competitions. The results of student surveys indicate that the majority actively participate in patriotic activities and have a positive assessment of their patriotic feelings. However, the study also identifies areas for improvement, such as the need for more active student involvement in patriotic events and the adaptation of programs to regional characteristics. The authors emphasize the importance to further develop extracurricular activities as an effective tool for patriotic education and propose recommendations for enhancing the said work, including the use of innovative forms and consideration of student needs. The research confirms that patriotic education contributes to strengthening civic identity and fostering youth readiness for active participation in societal life, which, in turn, influences the development of democratic processes and the creation of a healthy civil society. Thus, this study represents a significant contribution to understanding and advancing patriotic education within the context of modern education. |
