LEGAL SUPPORT FOR FOREIGN TRADE ACTIVITIES OF THE BRICS COUNTRIES

In the work, the authors investigate an urgent problem related to the legal support of cooperation between the BRICS member countries in the field of foreign trade in the era of globalization and the development of international competition. To identify the potential of this cooperation in the field of mutual trade, the import-export indicators of foreign trade, the dynamics of trade turnover and the commodity structure of the member countries of the association, including with new partners such as Egypt, Iran, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Ethiopia and Indonesia, were considered. The authors conducted a legal analysis of declarations and other regulatory documents signed following the summits of the BRICS member countries, as well as bilateral agreements concluded by Russia with members of the BRICS association on cooperation in foreign trade and customs affairs. In the paper, the authors analyze the results of the BRICS plenary meeting: New Opportunities and Prospects for the development of customs cooperation in the context of global Transformations, held on the sidelines of the International Customs Forum in 2024 Moscow, Russia), within the framework of which the members of the association also identified priority areas of development. Based on the results of the analysis, the authors draw conclusions about the need for institutional changes to develop and strengthen trade and economic relations between the countries, which in turn are mutually beneficial and strategically important for all members of the association, which is confirmed by the regulatory framework concluded between the countries. The authors emphasize that such changes are only possible if systematic work is carried out by all the countries to introduce unified and agreed provisions.
