Annotation:

The article analyzes the process of formation of foreign language abilities and skills in academic communication in a written format. The learners’ foreign language writing competence is considered as a central component of the scientific culture that allows integrating into the international academic communication. The possibility of incorporating academic writing into the masters and PhD students’ program is analyzed. The author clarifies the learning content of different genres of academic writing (abstract, abstracts of scientific article, essay) within the framework of graduate and postgraduate programs, the technology of foreign language writing competence formation of students of non-linguistic universities.
