| Annotation: | The goal of the article is to identify a number of important issues that were caused by the financial distress of the recent years; as well as to assess the efficiency of banks in the financial crisis. When carrying out the research the following methods were used: methods of theoretical generalization and comparison, statistical and graphical analysis. Based on the research results the essence of the banking system efficiency is defined; a comprehensive analysis of the main functions of banking system in the economy is carried out; and the main problems affecting the increasing of its competitiveness are identified. Scientific and methodical approach to analysis of the main functions of the banking system is improved. Key issues of development of the banking system are identified; the measures for reducing their impact are proposed. | ||
