PUPILS’ TEXT ANALYSIS SKILLS AS AN INDICATOR OF THE ADEQUACY OF THEIR COMMUNICATIVE COMPETENCE

Annotation:

The author analyses the term «communicative competence» against the background of setting out new requirements for the education system. The author explains the connection between the improvement of communicative competence and the current text analysis skills, acquirement of new ones. Essay on a linguistic topic plays a certain role in solving one of the fundamental problems of education at schools. The most common mistakes that pupils make in the process of analysing scientific and literary texts (statements about the language and the speech) are carefully examined in the article. The author illustrates that the level of communicative competence may be dependent on text analysis skills that are essential to write an essay on a linguistic topic. The author provides some recommendations for improving pupils’ communicative competence.
