The data of research of communicative problems of students are given; the analysis of problems in formation of communicative competence is given. Studies have shown the duality of students ‘ attitude to the level of their communicative competence: on the one hand, they realize the lack of some communicative skills, on the other hand, in particular, first-year students, the need to improve their communicative competence is not sufficiently actualized. Studies have revealed that students have increased self-conceit of their communicative abilities; poor knowledge of etiquette; the use of manipulative, forceful methods of communication. As a special problem, the authors identified the work with students with weak natural makings (introverts, shy, insecure).
