Тhe article is devoted to the issue of competitive detail as a means of enhancing students’ professional training in the field of information technology. Analyzed the competitive activities in the field of information technology. The article presents the relevance of the study of competitive activity in the vocational training of students is determined as one of the effective forms of training that contribute to increasing independence, the development of creative activity and initiative. he main functions of competitive activity are revealed: educational, developing, integrating, creative, socializing and motivational. The didactic abilities of the competition in the framework of the organization of the educational process and the possibility of competitive activity in professional training in the field of information technologies are noted. The results of the dynamics of participation of students in the competitive selection of WorldSkills Hi-Tech. Тhe authors highlighted the requirements for competitions, allowing to achieve high-quality results, as well as moments that reduce the effectiveness of competitive activities in the framework of the educational process. The importance of involving students in competitive activities in the framework of vocational education has been substantiated. The theses are formulated that prove the effectiveness of students’ competitive activities in order to form a socially active person competent in the professional sphere. As an urgent problem, the need to improve the level of professional education in the field of information technologies and its adaptation to modern realities is indicated.
