Annotation:

The article examines a range of issues related to the influence of student self-government on the quality of education of foreign students. The special potential of quality education in the sociocultural and economic adaptation of foreign students is noted. The relevance of researching the role of the university and, in particular, student self-government in development of the competencies and skills necessary for students to adapt to the modern labor market, the ability to work effectively and live happily in the context of global changes is revealed. A portrait of foreign students of the Ural Federal University is described (on the example of students from the Republic of Kyrgyzstan). Specifically: the motives for entering a foreign university have been identified; the social well-being of foreign students at the Ural Federal University has been described and analyzed; difficulties in adapting to the student life are described; proposals were formulated regarding activities that would enhance the quality of education of foreign students. The article emphasizes the importance of the active involvement of foreign students in the educational environment of the university and creation of an international educational environment; systematization of educational activities of the university and the revitalization of student self-government bodies to improve the quality of education of foreign students. The authors analyzed the potential of student self-government tools existing in the Ural Federal University to improve the quality of education of foreign students and propose a program to improve the effectiveness of the quality management system of education of foreign students, which provides for development of a concept of individualization of the adaptation work system with the first-year foreign students; comprehensive study of factors affecting the quality of education of foreign students; introduction of elements of a quality management system; development of a differential approach to freshmen-foreigners, together with community organizations in the process of adaptation, depending on the previous places of residence, the level of pre-university training, the level of knowledge of the Russian language, etc.
