DIGITAL TWIN AS THE BASIS FOR INNOVATIVE DEVELOPMENT OF SMALL AND MEDIUM ENTERPRISES OF THE AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY ON THE EXAMPLE OF GERMANY AND RUSSIA

Annotation:

The article reviews the role of digital innovation and, in particular, the digital twin, in development of small and medium-sized enterprises in the automotive industry. The analysis of strategies of the digital innovation development of Russian and German industry is being carried out. Special attention is paid to the use of digital innovation by small and medium-sized enterprises in the automotive industry using digital twin technology as an example. The article provides an overview of development of the definition of “digital twin”, from its first appearance in 2003 to the present day. The peculiarity of development of details and specialization of the definition “digital twin” is traced. The emerging direction of standardization in the definition and development of the digital twin is reflected. The impact of digital innovation on SMEs in the automotive industry is shown; aspects of successful innovation development and conditions for obtaining economic benefits from the introduction of new tools and technologies are noted. Statistics are provided from official sources on expectations from introduction of the modern innovative tools and technologies, and on technologies actually used in daily practice. Digital innovation has been shown to demonstrate the highest growth in expectations and actions. An example of the use of Industrial 4.0 tools was shown at the e.GO Mobile AG startup in Aachen, Germany, which develops electrically driven vehicles. Conversions in development and production processes of this startup have been noted due to the use of digital innovations at all levels of production processes. Leadership factors of the companies within the limits of the occurring fourth industrial revolution and the basic components of change of the key business processes of the enterprise are marked.
