The authors proposed a criminological analysis of domestic violence in the context of the correlation of the portrait of the personality of the violent criminal and the victim, which allows enhancing the preventive effect. The relevance of countering domestic violence is explained by the statistics on victims of violence among women and children. The authors conducted an applied study of the materials of criminal cases instituted for violent crimes committed in the Rostov region. 350 criminal cases on the composition of assaults against the individual were examined. This study allowed the authors to draw conclusions about the interdependent characteristics of the victim and the perpetrator of domestic violence. The characteristics of the perpetrators are unchanged over a long period of time and include a low educational level, low social adaptation, low level of social acceptance, various types of addictions. Often the relationship of the guilty and the victim is determined by kinship, intimacy or acquaintance. Typical features of victims undergo changes and allow us to propose victimization correction technologies. The results of the study of law enforcement materials are presented, which revealed the characteristics of the victims and their victimological characteristics, the portrait features of each side of the conflict are revealed. Separate attention is paid to the low level of self-esteem of victims of domestic violence and the need for external psychological support. Such conclusions were formulated as a result of a study of criminal cases and violence that had previously been applied to victims; in 60 % of cases, victims had previously been victims of beatings, torture and other types of violence. The features of the personality of the perpetrator are identified from among the socio-psychological qualities, the socio-psychological portraits of each side are determined, which determine the criminogenic motivation. Taking into account the correlation of socio-psychological indicators of the personality of the guilty and the victim, conclusions on preventive measures with the aim of changing the quantitative indicators of violent domestic crime are recommended.
