ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION FOR THE NON-PROFILE TRAINING STUDENTS

Annotation:

The article analyzes the universality of environmental education prescribed in the Federal Law “On Environmental Protection”. It is shown that the discipline “ecology” is not always present in the students’ training programs and in curricula, thereby ensuring the continuity of environmental education. At the same time, the training of students at the university in the field of ecology is necessary for specialists in administrative structures, managers and specialists of enterprises of various industries who make decisions in the field of economic and social development. Federal state educational standards currently do not contain mandatory requirements for developing environmental competencies of teachers, educators in various fields, and journalists. Environmental education is often characterized by its promotion by incompetent persons who do not have special education in the field of ecology; coverage of environmental problems in the media is carried out by journalists who do not have training in the field of ecology, etc. It was established that this problem is characteristic not only for Russia, but also for many other countries, and this is why the need for the development of a universal environmental education is enshrined in a number of international documents. These provisions implemented in Russian legislation currently do not always work. In the article, on the example of conducting classes in ecology with historian students, examples of student feedback on the need for environmental training for the non-environmental students are given. The requirement to include an environmental component in all educational programs is the imperative of the time, which can only be realized if the relevant specific norms are sequentially included in legislative acts.
